Hi Guys 💖 ! I just finished watching a series on Netflix 🎬🎥 called Gilmore Girls, and OMG... It is SO AMAZING !
Ok so the show is basically about a young single mother, Lorelai and her teenage daughter Rory. Lorelai was born into an upper-crust family, but when she finds out she's pregnant at 16, she runs away from home to raise her child in a quirky little town: Stars Hollow.
I would qualify it as a comedy-drama series. It talks a lot about relationships: Best friends first, mother-daughter second, and other various romance or familial bonds. It is known for it's comfort, pop culture references, humor, overflowing characterization, and fast-paced dialogue but mostly the 2 protagonists' love for coffee. That doesn't mean it cant be emotional tho.
I loved watching this show, i can really relate to some parts and see myself in Rory sometimes. She is literally the inter-monologue of every girl trying to make her way into the world. It is so calm to watch, it's like anyone's everyday life, there is no actual plot, just a story without an end.The characters are imperfect, they all have there pros and cons, wich makes it great to watch. It talks about anything and everything, you never know what's gonna happen in 1 episode. I get sucked in each time i watch an episode, and can never know when to stop ! The series goes on FOREVER, there are 7 seasons and, I think, a sequel with 4 episodes !
Believe me, this is not any ordinary series. It is everything you want in a show and more. I mean, who doesn't like any female-led series ? And bonus points for the cute boys ;) ! If you have ever seen the series Gossip Girl, i think you will enjoy this one. Okay but like, seriously ! GO WATCH IT, NOW !!! You won't regret it, promise. :)
Until next time,love ya.💋
"So it's a show ?
It's a lifestyle.
It's a religion"
What's your look on it ?
ReplyDeleteLena, I have never watched the show, but I have a friend, even older than me (in her 80s) who I remember loved this show and mentioned it often, saying how much she enjoyed it...and now, after reading you review, I get why she liked it so much. (She was a librarian, and a very good judge of the quality and value of books, film, music.) So, there you have it, an addictive show that appeals to all ages! Now I will have to watch it and prepare to be sucked in! And a good idea to include photos from the series.
ReplyDeletePS (Are there really no black kids in the show?)
PSS (Do you really think of yourself as a foreigner?)
hi joanie, yes, you are indeed right, there are no black kids in the show :( but Rory's best friend Lane is partly Asian. No i dnont think of myself as a foreigner that's just a joke from mom ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, I am glad you don't feel like a foreigner! I just noticed the "my community" photo to the right of the blog--ha!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lena, Unfortunately, I haven't even seen one episode of The Gilmore Girls! But, my daughter and granddaughters absolutely love it so it is certainly on my list. I am finishing up a rather "dark" series so I will be ready for something more fun. Of course, you know how I love coffee so I will relate to the main character!
ReplyDeletep.s. I have see the actress that plays Lorelai in another series.
Hi Laura, i'm glad to hear that Caitrin,Skylar and Chloe enjoy it too, you should definitely give it a try !
DeleteHi Lena, You hit the nail on the head with everything you said in your post - it was a great review! I LOVE Gilmore Girls, and, in fact, own the whole series, LOL! I love the banter and quick dialogue between the characters too. I would have to say that my faves are: Lorelai, Rory, Luke, and Jesse. I also enjoyed Lorelai's parents. And Paris was a riot! We will have to do some binge watching on a rainy summer day! Love you! Aunt Mary:)
ReplyDeleteHi Lena. I just found your blog my accident while I'm bored at work! Heather and I watched Gilmore Girls a few years ago. It was really good. We rewatch it every once in a while.
ReplyDeleteA movie you might like is "Catherine Called Birdie" on Amazon Prime. It will make you laugh, cry and think about life!
Love you!
